With
nearly 5 000 inhabitants divided out of 13 000 hectares, ROOMS has the characteristic
to be organized in " districts " of variable importance revolving
around the Center-Borough and testifying to a rich person structures south-of
Gironde. The principal districts are :
- LAVIGNOLLE in the North-West (9 km)
- The CAPLANNE in west (3 km)
- BILOS & LANOT in south (2 & 4 km)
The history of the Commune in the mists of time loses since recent archaeological
discoveries give an account of a human presence going up with prehistory on
the banks of Eyre, therefore called the " Small Amazon ".
Since antique SALOMAGOS, Eyre was used a long time as axis of development
and transport before becoming a destination impossible to circumvent for the
amateurs of canoes and country holidays, in love of a wild and preserved nature.
The fame of its quality of life and calms it forest often also put forward
in ROOMS the nickname of " Paradise of the Moors ".
Also famous for its market of Thursday morning, ROOMS accomodates many tourists
attending various lodgings of quality (camp-sites, houses of hosts, hotels
and residence of tourism) and the local trades.
Active, sporting and young commune, ROOMS are also characterized by the vitality
of its inhabitants and the dynamism of its Associations.

why not, remain there! Located at the South of the Gironde, 50 kilometers
of Bordeaux and 15 kilometers of the Basin of Arcachon, ROOMS is the most
important commune of the Valley of Eyre, with the heart of the Regional Natural
reserve of the Moors of Gascogne.
It is with the crossroads of the North-South axes (motorway A 63 / RN 10)
and Is 1 West (RD 108 towards the Lakes and the Landaise Coast / RD 3 towards
the beaches oceans and the Basin of Arcachon).
