Around the bilos campsite

The surrounding countryside, known as the Moors of Gironde has a rich and varied number of places to visit and enjoy.

The ocean

The Atlantic coast with his miles of sandy beaches stretching as far as the eye can see, is a fantastic place to swim in on the supervised beaches. The pounding waves make it an area well known for surfing, or try your hand at body boarding for beginners.

The lakes

15 minutes from the campsite are the freshwater lakes at Sanguinet, with supervised beaches these make for an excellent place to swim, bathe and try out a variety of water sports, as windsurfing.

Arcachon

The celerated 19th centuary seaside resort of Arcachon home to a variety of architectural buildings is still a thriving fishing port today. Amongst its elegant facade, the marina and sea food restaurants sit along side each other, and the oyster upon which the town built its wealth, is still eaten vociferiusly today.

Dune du Pyla

From the top of the highest sand dune in Europe you can view the vast Atlantic ocean and the green forest of the moor of Gascogne, where one touches the other.

Bordeaux

Victor Hugo once describe Bordeaux in the 18th as : "take Versailles, add Antwertp and you'll have Bordeaux." Today, it's the Wine capital of the world, with its vigneyards to be visited and it's remarkably preseved architecture, Bordeaux is a city to be savoured, as should any good wine !!

The National park

The Gascogne park was the 1st National park to be created in France. With its huge preserved pine forest. The scent of resin and heather fill your nostrils and make it a place to remember your holiday all year round.
